I looked up the ARM chip information, and the new chips for the IoT (internet of things) are specially-configured so that each chip, no matter what device it is in, no matter what it is "primarily" doing in that device (monitoring thermostat settings and room temp. for instance) will also seek out communication with any other IoT chip in communications range, and establish networking.
