AWS acquires Talen’s nuclear data center campus in Pennsylvania
Cloud company pays $650 million – plans 960MW campus
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has acquired Talen Energy’s data center campus at a nuclear power station in Pennsylvania.
Talen Energy Corporation this week announced it has sold its 960MW Cumulus data center campus in Pennsylvania to a ‘major cloud service provider’ – listed as Amazon in a Talen investor presentation. Amazon is yet to comment on the news.
According to the investor presentation, Talen sold the site and assets of Cumulus Data for $650 million. The deal comprises $350 million at close and $300m escrowed, released upon development milestones anticipated in 2024.
"We are pleased today to have sold our Cumulus data center campus, unlocking significant value for Talen," said Talen president and CEO Mac McFarland. "This transaction provides an attractive return on Talen's investment and vision in building Cumulus, and creates value through the sale of clean carbon-free power from our top-decile Susquehanna nuclear plant."

There is strong evidence that they planted Stuxnet, an Israeli computer virus that attacks Siemens power plant control systems, and which Israel previously used to damage Iran's nuclear program. Magna BSP also established internet data links in the reactor cores, in blatant violation of international nuclear regulations.
All twelve members of that security team returned to Israel in the week before 3/11/11. In the aftermath of the disaster, the Israelis publicly monitored the reactor cores via their illegal internet data links. Yet no one took them to task for this.
It turns out that the official explanation for the Fukushima reactor explosions was bogus as well. Nuclear power containment walls are extremely thick and strong. Hydrogen explosions could never have destroyed them. As a historical reference, hydrogen explosions occurred at Three Mile Island and caused no structural damage, nor even any injuries to plant personnel.
Furthermore, Reactor Four contained no fuel on 3/11/11, and was therefore nonoperational -- yet it exploded and was destroyed as completely as were the other reactors that day. Reactor Four is like Building 7 at the World Trade Center - an utter impossibility, a blatant smoking gun. A reactor containing no fuel cannot operate; a nonoperational reactor cannot explode unless someone explodes it. The destruction of Reactor Four can only have been the result of sabotage.

After calling AI a “universal technology” that can be put to virtually any use, he asserted that “we’re not going to hit the climate goals anyway,” effectively arguing the tech industry should be off the hook for its rising emissions. Instead, he said we face two scenarios: one where we breach emissions targets without AI and another where we emit even more, but at least we have that supposed “alien intelligence” to help us.
“I’d rather bet on AI solving the problem than constraining it and having the problem,” he concluded, never accepting that another scenario where we do take the climate crisis seriously without generative AI could be considered.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, announced in Taiwan on Sunday the building of Israel-1, a hyperscale generative AI supercomputer to be deployed in its Israeli data center and used as a blueprint and testbed for Nvidia Spectrum-X, a networking platform that can be used in various AI applications.
Spectrum-X is designed to improve the performance and efficiency of Ethernet-based AI clouds and aims to allow developers to build software-defined, cloud-native AI applications while reducing run-times of massive transformer-based generative AI models.
